Marius Ghita (b. 1999) lives and works in Cluj and Satu Mare. He is a graduate of the University of Art and Design in Cluj, having majored in painting, and is currently pursuing doctoral studies in visual arts. He mainly uses the artistic medium of oil painting and the theme of his paintings is focused on the visual transposition of personal memories, endowed with a strong metaphorical aura. Marius Ghita's works are thus operations of self-interrogation and discovery, at the same time offering the viewer the opportunity to cast a fascinated glance towards the interstices between experience and imagination.
The theme of Marius Ghita's paintings is focused on the visual transposition of personal memories, endowed with a strong metaphorical aura. The works on display are thus operations of self-interrogation and discovery while offering the viewer the opportunity to cast a fascinating glance toward the space between experience and imagination. A restrained and elegant chromaticism is used to construct landscapes rhetorically fragmented, metaphysical, and metaphorical in a simultaneously idiosyncratic and broadly intelligible manner. The elements that populate these landscapes, from trees to seemingly mundane brambles, have a ghostly air, situated as they are in a register somewhere between acute presence and evanescence.
